I believe in the words of Kenye West and everyone who says he is not speaking the truth is selfish and obviously very much removed from reality. All Kenye West did was voice the opinions of every under represented, underclass african american. He was not speaking against whites, but spoke on President Bush. People who cannot see, with a clear conscience the short comings of our president and who are making excuses for his actions are the ones bashing the people who are speaking against the slow response to Katrina. If New Orleans were a city full of upper class, white american, do you truley in your heart believe that they would be treated like savages by their own government.

I agree with Kanye,..there's alot to be done,.and it doesnt look too good to see our president sitting around,..watchin Oprah, John Travolta, Chris Rock and other entertainers do his job. Its embarrassing and its sickning. When 9/11 went down,..thos people were helped immediatley,..and money is still being took up for those people..in which they were already going to be compensated(working for the trade center..?..u know they were gone be compensated for their lost)..Yet u have thousands of African Americans looking for a place to stay and food to eat,..u have all these citites and states building brand new houses, condos and all,..yet they issue out debit cards with 2000 dollars on it and expect that to support a family??2000 dollars dont even take u anywhere when u have ur home and everythin in it,..let alone when u have nothing. This is just another way of God showing us who's in control,.and if we dont tighten up?,..things are bound to get worse. We are truly living in the last days..just too bad some dont want to see it/believe it!!

Kanye is an opportunistic 2 bit punk. I laughed out loud when the little boy began to tremble as he struggled to put together one coherent sentence during his Red Cross rant. Leave the politics to the politicians. Entertainers need to know that when they wander off track they risk offending half of their audience. The thinking half anyway. I wonder how much his selfish prank cost the Red Cross recovery effort? It is clear that Mr. West only sees things in black and white. I don't see even a hint of "Jesus Walking" in his hateful, vacant eyes. Mr. West, we are a nation under seige by nature and by a ruthless enemy. Your childish
jab at our Commander in Chief gives aid and comfort to our enemies.
We are not black or white, we are AMERICANS. This homo just ain't buyin Kanye's crap.

Can someone tell Kayne West to shut up.
Come on, make a difference and get out there. Don't just talk and have no bite. Encourage people, have them volenteer, donate items.
Oh you don't do that right West, you don't want to get your preppy threads dirty?
Stick to your boring rap and keep your mouth shut on polotics.

Everything is always a race issue. It's time to take a little more responsibility. It is ashame what happened but you can't blame President Bush for all that has happened. Disaster preparedness is not something that is put together in one hour. Plans have to be made which should have been made by the governors of the states that were hit. Hurricane Katrina didn't just appear out of nowhere. There was plenty of time for the governors to prepare but they didn't want to listen. So, all the comments about how President Bush didn't help because he is a racist or that he doesn't like blacks is absurd. Take a look around, you are not the only ones. There are plenty of others besides blacks that need help. Everyone is so quick to point the finger at someone else. Make sure you know the facts before casting that stone.

Daniel

Just so you all know, the Red Cross had truck loads and truck loads full of food and water and supplies ready to be employed BEFORE the hurricane hit and the only reason they did not get to the many people in need was because the State of Louisiana Department of Homeland Security denied them access because the areas of evacuation in Louisiana were considered areas of refuge and they did not want the people to be comfortable and stay. That department is in no way controlled by the president. Also there are hundreds of busses under water that could have evacuated thousands of people before the tragedy, but the governor chose not to use them. There were thousands of national gaurd members at the governors disposal but she did not use them. President Bush called the governor to ask for a mandatory evacuation, but she didn't take his advice. FEMA was ready to help at a moments notice, but the mayor and governor didn't ask for help. The only way President Bush could have done ANYTHING further to help would be to completely step over the authority of the mayor of New Orleans and governor of Louisiana. Maybe he should have assumed the mayor and governor were completely over their heads and incompitent, but because he didn't is in no way a reason to say he does not care for black people. That is completely rediculous. I'm sick and tired of these famous people with power to be exposed over the television flapping their mouths and saying completely inept and and uninformed statements. It just drives me nuts. If you really think Bush hates black people, I think it may be time to become a bit more educated on the facts and stop going along with every word every celebrity says on TV.

I just wanted to say what was said is the truth. No he doesn't care about us (blacks) and this is truly sad. This is just sad. The good lord above is watching all of this. I wonder what will be in store for all the people who could have done better in assisting these people down there. Mr. Bush's soul has been sold to the devil a long time ago. I wonder how the people who voted for him now look at him.

Tiffany (Chicago)

Me being from Chicago, words can not express how proud I am of Kanye West for speaking the truth. I have family down there in Louisiana who I couldn't reach for days, but finally I got thru to them and I thank God that they are okay, but for everyone else down there who are not ok. Who is helping them? As of now, it seems to be the survival of the fittest. And no!! George Bush is not helping. Flying over the state and not landing is not helping. Being on vacation all the damn time is not helping. Picking a Chief Justice right now, is not helping. Taking credit for your father and Clinton's ideals is not helping. People may not think that what Kanye West said didn't help matters either, but it did. It helped people see the truth. Cause people now a days belive only what's being said and not what they see. If Bush loved black people so much, than why is it that he himself hasn't given anything out of his own pockets to help. If it would have been Florida that gotten hit, just because of his brother being down there they would have sent troops, cruise ships, helicopters, what ever they needed to get those people out on the second day, not five or ten days later when it's too late. God doesn't like ugly, and for Bush sake I hope he gets it together before it's too late.

To NBC - think about it from our shoes.. Black people shoes.. if it was your family down there, and your president was acting like he didn't give a f*** what would you have said on national TV when given the chance. If you are really honest with yourself you can't faught Kanye for speaking what we are all thinking. This is another 911 (and once again Bush is sitting on his ass taking to long to do anything about it) just this time it has hit in the all black community. And what now no one cares???
Where is all the love for thy brother and sister gone. Where are all the troops. Off getting killed for no reason, when they could be being of service right here in their own country. It's really sad when something happens to your next door neighbor, and yet nothing is being done about it. But yet something happens a million miles away, and we become beck and call girls running over there to help. Is that fair? Is that justice?
As a young African American woman it makes me question the very world we live in. Have we yet to over come? And is this what Malcome and Dr. King was talking about? If so than the next time Bush should just wear a white sheet over his head when giving his statement. At least for once he would be speaking the truth.

P.S. I'm sorry another thing that is killing me is that here in Chicago we have a lottery ticket worth 150 million dollars, and yet we have people dying every 5 minutes in LA and Missipi. Why not use that money for them. Oh wait I forgot...That would be too much like right and we don't want that do we!!!!

Please sign this petition to ask NBC to respect Kanye's right to speak freely.

NBC was advertising the relief concert on its network only a couple days after Katrina hit. I am flabbergasted at how the network was able to effectively coordinate relief efforts (albeit in their promotional interests) before the federal government even stepped foot in the Gulf Coast.
